Choose the morning for your Pohatu Penguins Sea Kayak adventure where you explore the outer coast of Pohatu Marine Reserve and marvel at its spectacular towering cliffs, rock stacks, reefs, and deep sea caves.Observe the diverse wildlife and marine species such as penguins, seals, various sea birds and possibly the world's smallest dolphin!

After a break you will join our Penguin Evening Tour where you will get great insight into a penguin's life and an opportunity to see the birds close by. Also, from the hides on the side of a hill, you can view penguins undisturbed and socializing on water, using camouflage gear and binoculars.

The Kayak trip and Evening tour includes a on a 4WD van from Akaroa to Pohatu through a scenic path with many photo stops en route. The trip mainly concentrates on the Little Penguin but other native and endemic wildlife may also be seen, such as the yellow-eyed penguins, New Zealand fur seals, oyster catchers and cormorants.

Note: The penguin experience starts 11.15am and you will be back by 6/6.30pm. It is recommended to do the kayaking and evening tour on one day as it is in the same area.
