Welcome!
Waimak River Riding Centre (previously Waimak River Horse Treks and Waimak River Adventures) was established by Erika and Stan McStay in February 2001. As tourism in New Zealand, and specifically Christchurch, has grown and changed, so too has our business. We have now combined our horse trekking, riding school, holiday programs and leasing into one business, Waimak River Riding Centre.
Horses are our passion, and we are dedication to providing a safe and enjoyable horse riding experience. Our calm, experienced and well trained horses, experienced guides and instructors work together to ensure the best environment for fun and learning.
Now that Christchurch ha been rebuilt, and is now revitalised, we are ready to reach out to the travelling world once again. Christchurch and Canterbury have so much to offer, so do come and experience it for yourself, whether it be on horse back or any other mode of transport.
Our Riding Centre is located alongside the Wamakariri (Waimak) River on the Northern boundary of the Christchurch City limit, Canterbury, New Zealand. Just 15 minutes drive from the central city, our location is not only convenient but also surrounded by the most beautiful rural and river scenery that is typical of Canterbury. The Waimakariri River is said to be one of the best examples of a braided river in the Southern Hemisphere. Braided rivers only occur in Canterbury and Canada. Don’t just let me tell you about it come and see for yourself.
Refund policy No refunds within 24 hours of departure unless the Operator cancels the activity due to waterway road or weather conditions. Otherwise refunds are granted solely at the discretion of the Agent according to the Operator’s cancellation policy. Refunds may only be obtained from the Booking Agent. Note that the credit card transaction fee is not refundable. Cancellation Policy Cancellation must be made 24 hours prior to the agreed commencement time of the service. The Operator reserves all rights to cancel any Activity at its discretion for (but not limited to) any of the following reasons: a) waterway road or weather conditions; b) lack of numbers participating in the Activity; c) unsuitability of Guest(s) due to reasons such as age ill health poor fitness intoxication or any other reasons rendering a Guest unsuitable or unfit to participate in the Activity; d) any other circumstances which are beyond the reasonable control of the Operator. No Show Clients that have booked our services and do not arrive at the appointed time of the service will forfeit the total amount paid. No refund will be given. Re Schedule Twenty four hours notice is required if clients are unable to come at the appointed time but are able to reschedule for another time convenient to Waimak River Riding Centre.
