Blanche Baughan (1870–1958) was a poet, travel writer, conservationist, prison reformer, and a long-time resident of Akaroa, living in her beloved Ashrama and serving on the borough council. It was in Akaroa that Blanche’s writing, environmental interests and advocacy for society’s vulnerable flourished. Author Carol Markwell explores her fascinating life in Enough Horizon: The Life and Work of Blanche Baughan, and will be in conversation with Morrin Rout.
